The YOUTH

Our youth ministry operates out of the three core values of our church: Worship, Serve & Connect. Our desire is to introduce students to Christ, connect them with other believers, enable them to grow in their faith and empower them to glorify God through living a life of worship and ministry to others. In order to make these purposes happen, our student ministry provides programs and events for students throughout the year that are designed to meet these purposes. These events and programs, of course, cost money. So, the Dessert Derby enables our church to provide scholarships for students to participate in these events and also supplements our youth budget.

Last year, the Dessert Derby raised more than $44,000. That money was used to send 40 students to summer camp, 45 students on a mission trip to Joplin, Missouri and 130 students to Middle and High School Winter Retreat, not to mention the over 200 students our outreach events have reached. The funds raised also enabled us to maintain and improve our regular programs like Merge on Wednesday nights and small groups on Sunday mornings. 

And those are just the numbers which don’t take into account the life change that many of our students have undergone as Christ has come into their lives. God has clearly been at work in the life of our youth ministry and in the lives of our students. Needless to say, we would love to see those kind of funds raised once again in order to continue to meet the needs of our growing ministry. 

This summer we are excited to offer a mission trip to southern New Jersey to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy. Our scholarships will enable students to attend these discipleship opportunities and enable them to grow in their relationship with God. The funds raised at Dessert Derby will also help to supplement the youth budget and purchase the necessary curriculum for our students, discipleship resources, and any additional facility needs.
